Trent Resnor says:
(thank you for your continued and loyal support over the years - this one's on me)

Just click through and give them your email and they'll send you a link to choose what kind of download you want, from mp3 to WAV. I'm listening to it right now and I would've paid for it. In fact I'm going to go and buy the Ghost (ambient) album right now.

WTF!?!

Anti-ecstasy/meth antibodies
I might be missing the point, but why?

"Researchers applied for a patent on antibodies that bind to methamphetamine-like compounds such as Ecstasy to quickly remove the drug from a user's bloodstream."

So they can create antibodies for drugs that don't have to be taken , but they can't figure out how to cure diabetes, a disease where the victim must take drugs to live. Hmmmm I wonder who's side their on? (that was a rhetorical question)

Bully Target

A Boy the Bullies Love to Beat Up, Repeatedly
I have just the slightest connection to someone who was in Columbine during the attack. No one there or in the nation could wrap their heads around how something like that could happen. After reading this kid's story it becomes all to clear. I don't know what he's done, but I know that no one deserve what happens to him. I know the bullies' parents should be blamed for failing as a parent, but there should be an upheaval of school employees(read:administration) that allow anything of this nature to go on during their watch. I have personally seen it happen before at California State Maritime Academy. These schools are just covering their own asses with no regard for what actually happens under their own noses. Shame on you Fayetteville. Disgusting.

Starbucks to Offer Free Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi With AT&T
"Last month, AT&T announced plans to make its 10,000 Wi-Fi hotspots free to nearly all of its broadband Internet customers. The move expanded access to include subscribers who have a lower tier of high-speed Internet service, increasing to 12 million the number of broadband customers who can use the hotspots free of charge. Previously, only subscribers to AT&T's premium broadband service had free access.

Monday's announcement boosts the number of AT&T hotspots in the U.S. to 17,000 -- the most in the nation."

Nice. Now I need an iPhone or a laptop.

Holy effen Peepoo!

Australian girl changes blood group, immune system
"Brennan's body changed blood group from O negative to O positive when she became ill while on drugs to avoid rejection of the organ by her body's immune system.

Her new liver's blood stem cells then invaded her body's bone marrow to take over her entire immune system, meaning the teen no longer needs anti-rejection drugs."

They're calling this a "one-in-six-billion miracle." That sounds like one person on earth. I don't know when doctors became statistician, but if they can figure out how this happened, rich people everywhere will be able to live longer, 2.0 lives.

Holy F

Salt Water = Fuel?
John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer. He discovered that as long as the salt water was exposed to the radio frequencies, it would burn.

Big oil may soon have to kiss my salty rusted tailpipe.

Go Southwest

The Accuser: Southwest Airlines
The Victim Kyla Ebbert... You be the Judge
Southwest Airline tells woman her outfit won't fly
Southwest again distinguishes itself from other airline by not letting attractive people fly the unfriendly skies. Ground breaking business plans: first cattle call , now high school dress code enforcers. I've seen flight attendants with uniforms that were way to tight and no one told them to stop rubbing there fat asses on every innocent aisle seat customer or go home and change. Nice job Southwest, you get the LT questionable business practice of the week. Here are the links to Jet Blue and Virgin America for the smarter consumers.

Fox takes another crap to the right

Bill O'Reilly is Rad and so is Fox News
Bill O'Reilly abuses and cuts the mic of retired Colonel Ann Wright, 29-year veteran of the US Army, after she refuses to fall victim to his leading, dishonest questions and smear tactics. Apparently in Bill's demented world, criticizing the actions of President Bush in explicitly violating international law — something Col. Wright spent years teaching — constitutes "blaming" America.

Video and transcript after the link.

Places I've Worked

A Los Angeles 'Hotel' for Internet Carriers
"If the Internet is a superhighway, One Wilshire is a really popular roadside hotel. It's a 30-story building, and once exclusively housed law offices. CRG West manages the property, and they're the tech real estate branch of the Carlyle Group. David Dunn of CRG West says 23 of the building's floors are now designed to house not people, but some of the most important communications infrastructure in the country."

This is possibly one of the most connected buildings in the world. The amount of fiber on these floors is freakin' nuts.

Technology Review: Battery Breakthrough?

Battery (?)Breakthrough?
Actually it sounds like it's some type of combo battery-ultracapacitor, but if it's real, GM's gonna be pissed.

"The company boldly claims that its system, a kind of battery-ultracapacitor hybrid based on barium-titanate powders, will dramatically outperform the best lithium-ion batteries on the market in terms of energy density, price, charge time, and safety. Pound for pound, it will also pack 10 times the punch of lead-acid batteries at half the cost and without the need for toxic materials or chemicals, according to the company."

Fogs

Baby Foxes Going to the Dogs
"Each generation has been selectively bred for tameness—fearlessness and nonaggression toward humans. By now the foxes in the project behave like pet dogs, barking and wagging their tails at humans."
Nsational Geographic
"As Belyaev had predicted, other changes appeared along with the tameness, even though they had not been selected for. The tame silver foxes had begun to show white patches on their fur, floppy ears, rolled tails and smaller skulls."
